Santo Domingo Hotel Directory
When thinking of The Dominican Republic most visitors will probably envision beautiful Caribbean beaches filled with vacation resorts stretched as far as the eye can see and of course parts of the Dominican Republic, such as Punta Cana, do indeed fit that description. However, there is another side of the country worth exploring and specifically we are referring to the oldest European City in the Americas - Santo Domingo. Aside from the Zona Colonial (or what can be described as the 500 year old historic colonial part of Santo Domingo founded by the nephew of Christopher Columbus), Santo Domingo is also the country's capital city and seat of national government. While the majority of visitors to the city of Santo Domingo most likely would be someone visiting for business, it is also an interesting place for tourists to consider as well. The first and oldest university on the American Continent (established by papal decree) is located in Santo Domingo, and is still in operation today as part of the largest public university system in the Dominican Republic.
The hotel section below is basically grouped by location. Hotels located in the more affluent areas of Naco, Piantini and Bella Vista, close to new and more upscale residential and shopping areas, are listed first. Directly below that are hotels along the waterfront areas, and or hotels in other parts of the city. Thirdly comes the hotel list for the historic colonial or old city area and we have also included a number of smaller boutique style bed and breakfast establishments as well.
